Arise, My Soul, Arise
A stately brass ensemble designed for a larger group. It has many sections scored for a lush lower brass section often with upper brass embellishments… It is steadfast in its presentation and would serve well for a festive situation. Optional parts are included for flugelhorn and baritone TC.
-
Adeste Fidelis
A delightful brass ensemble arrangement that gives a constant sense of moment with various rhythmic devices while maintaining the sweeping nature of this old established tune. All parts get in the action from beginning to end- which is powerful and fulfilling.
-
O Holy Night
A brass sextet which has a gentle motion to it (much like a barcarolle) presents the melody in the middle voices adding more harmonic richness as it proceeds until the upper voices take over the bulk of the thematic material- all the while continuing with the pulsing patterns in the accompaniment. The next section is carried by the inner voices once again while the out voices added tension and impact. The middle section is slower and more plaintive fashion which has supportive material that weaves in and out until it comes to a climatic point. It gradually retreats until it reaches a sense of calm and solitude. (Opt trp for horn and BHTC for Trm 2)

Abba, Father
This song by Ron Hamilton is beautifully arranged in a mild manner where the brass parts are presented in soloist fashions, imitative motives and full chordal movements. The piano serves to give movement and embellishment- all in all, a delightfully meditative piece.

Christ The Lord Is Risen Today
This is a hymn that is typically portrayed in a stately and somewhat more reserved fashion, but this arrangement exudes a sense of joy. The theme alternates back and forth between solid ensemble harmonic structures to other times of imitation and motivic snatches. Again, the whole flavor of the piece is one of exuberance – as to the thought of the text itself.
